Nissan Europe Bored, Creates New Scent

By |   |
After creating the wonderful Nissan Juke-R a year ago, Nissan's European outfit seems to have a bit of free time on its hands. With nothing better to do, the automaker has created what it calls the "Scent of the Future," based on what an emissions-free world would smell like. Created by Aroma Academy (yes, that's a thing.) Scientist Dr. George Dodd, Nissan's new stank takes its inspiration from green grass (as opposed to bluegrass?), myrtle oil (yum), "natural orange," and a "light as air" molecule that's apparently impossible to describe. Right. This new scent will be put onto Nissan Leaf-shaped air freshener, and then given to Leaf customers, EV fans, and Nissan employees in Europe as a Christmas gift. You can check out the behind-the-scenes look at how Nissan commissioned its new scent in the video below. Source: Nissan Europe

If I had as much money as Nissan's European branch, I would not go from making the Juke-R to creating whatever the heck they just did. Also, does anyone else think it's a bit odd for a car company to have a laboratory just for making the smells of the future?

So, what about the Americas? What are we, chopped liver?

Excluding the ad campaign from that huge Leaf customer and potential buyer base, was short sightedness.

"natual orange" as opposed to cosmetically enhanced orange.

Wow, they actually have a lab room and employees that do this? So instead of pouring money into actual engineering, they do this. No concept of money whatsoever...
