2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT Leaps Through Streets of Willow on Ignition

By |   |
Although the 2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT’s 550-hp supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 and eight-speed automatic are unchanged from the standard XKR-S, the powerful cat receives several track-oriented upgrades. On this episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago puts the 2014 XKR-S GT through Motor Trend’s standard battery of tests as well as on the track at the Streets of Willow.
More on Motortrend.com:
Upgrades to the XKR-S GT include revised steering and suspension systems and larger brakes as well as new aerodynamic aids such as a new heat extractor hood, front splitter and canards, rear spats, aluminum undertray and diffuser, and larger rear wing. The aerodynamic aids produce 320 pounds of downforce at 186 mph. In testing, the XKR-S GT hit 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and finished the quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds at 119.7 mph. The XKR-S GT lapped the figure-eight in 23.7 seconds at 0.87 g average and the skidpad at 1.00 g average.
Next, Lago heads to Streets of Willow to evaluate the XKR-S GT on the track to see how well the package works together. After giving his impressions, Lago hands the Jaguar coupe over to pro-racer Randy Pobst to see how fast the big cat can lap the big track.

Like a Mercedes SL 550, it's a hairdresser's car.

MT continues their bias against the Nissan GT-R.  Never mentioned Jag vs GT-R.  Too embarrassing?

Who is Jaguar kidding?  $175K buys a 911 Turbo S, or a GT3 with lots of options and extra goodies like track weekend tires and wheels.  Or a new Corvette and a rather nice boat.

170K for a car that has the same "chrome" tailpipes as a previous generation Fusion..........if you can get past the looks the sound is VERY good!!

@Hangarchief That's not what gets me...what gets me is that it's still slower than most of its competitors, even though it's gotten $50,000 more expensive...

You could get a Viper + Z06, used MP4-12C, GT-R+Stingray, ZR1+R8....I mean crap....there are so many other faster, better looking cars on the market, this XKR nonsense just never made sense to me. And let's not even talk about the F-type...
